Hi everyone,
I am excited to share a big update with you all today. A few weeks ago, I left my office job of 7 years. Today, I left my home of Seattle and will be traveling the world full time and writing about my adventures on Wander Simply.
It was a hard decision, but I realized that sometime as a young adult, I want to go out and do extended travel. And now is as good of a time as any to do it. Staying in my job for the rest of my career would have meant that I’d never be able to travel for more than a month at a time. And I do not really have anything tying me down in Seattle, like a mortgage (since I don’t own a house) or other commitments.
So I did what I had to do: sold or gave away all of my belongings, save for a few boxes I will be keeping in the corner of a closet at my mom’s house, and my car, which I plan to use when I come back to visit Seattle and eventually for road trips around North America.
I have saved up a decent amount of both money and airline miles, which will help me with this adventure. However, I’ll still be using the tricks and tips described on this website to lengthen my travels.
Many of you may have noticed that I have not posted on here for a couple months. I have pretty much been busy nonstop with sorting through all my belongings, saying goodbye to friends and family, getting travel vaccinations, applying for visas, and working overtime to increase my savings as much as possible. Anyway, I hope to be posting more regularly since I am traveling now. Of course, I will also have much more to post about as well with all the adventures I will be going on.
I hope to spread this website through word of mouth as much as possible, and many of the information on this site is great for long term travel (as well as shorter trips). So if you have friends who want to get out and travel more and want to know how, or just want to read about my adventures, please direct them to the site! The menus at the top contain more than enough information to get started.
And of course, if you are thinking about leaving your job and doing long term travels yourself, feel free to ask any questions or leave any comments below!
